Miner Mk Is are quadrupedal robots that wander around a zone and lay mines. There are many different subtypes of miners which are named, classified, and colored based on what kind of mine they create. Miner Mk Is create mines based on mark I grenades, as if using the skill Lay Mine / Set Bomb.[1] They can be found randomly in tier 2 and 3 cave zones.[2]
When not in combat, miners wander randomly across a zone without taking any other actions. Upon spotting a creature they are hostile towards, miners will designate a random cell to lay a mine in, walk to it, then lay a mine. Miners are limited to having 15 active mines in a zone at any given time, and must wait 5-10 turns between laying mines.[1]
Laid Mines
Mines are automatically hidden and invisible to the player upon creation. Stepping on a mine, or succeeding on an Intelligence check of difficulty 15[1], reveals the mine. This is separate from identifying the mine.
