A handheld machine gun with a narrow barrel and an extended magazine.

Perfect

The chain pistol is a mid-tier pistol that is notable for being the only pistol that fires multiple projectiles from a single shot. Because of this characteristic, the chain pistol can compete with or outperform other top-tier pistols when fighting enemies that do not have very high armor (AV). When fighting enemies with very high AV, a pistol with a higher penetration value will likely be needed.

Due to its high rate of fire, the chain pistol is also uniquely effective in combination with certain cooking effects, such as the Whenever you perform a critical hit... triggered effect.

One of the most significant challenges of using chain pistols for an extended period of time will be keeping them supplied with enough lead slugs, because they are quite ammo-hungry. Dedicated gunslingers may want to buy all the lead slugs they can find from merchants, and also consider learning how to craft additional slugs with the relevant Tinker I schematic.
