Perfect

The chain pistol is a mid-tier pistol that is notable for being the only pistol that fires multiple projectiles from a single shot. Because of this characteristic, the chain pistol can compete with or outperform other top-tier pistols when fighting enemies that do not have very high armor (AV). When fighting enemies with very high AV, a pistol with a higher penetration value will likely be needed.

The chain pistol can be:

Advantages & Disadvantages

This section is opinion-based. Your mileage may vary.

Advantages

  • Due to its high rate of fire, the chain pistol is uniquely effective in combination with certain cooking effects, such as the Whenever you perform a critical hit... triggered effect.
  • Its fire rate also makes it remarkably effective at disarming opponents using Disarming Shot.
    • Using the nulling mod, the chain pistol can potentially destroy forcefields protecting an enemy and disarm them in only one shot.

Disadvantages

  • Its high fire rate and use of lead slugs as ammo means using it for an extended period of time may require special attention to keep it supplied.
    • Buying additional slugs from merchants or learning the tinkering recipe may be necessary.
  • Its relatively low PV means it will not be able to deal damage to high-AV targets.
