With a shell no larger than a human fist, this crab scuttles through a vent curiously suited to the dimensions of its figure. Often accompanied by dozens of its ghastly cousins, the jittering decapod means to devour all living matter it passs over.
A chute crab is a creature belonging to the crabs faction. Chute crabs are produced periodically by scratched vents,[1][2] which are always a feature of 1 of the 4 slimy shafts of Golgotha.[3]
Chute crabs have an aggressive base demeanor, meaning they will be hostile to a creature even if that creature has neutral reputation with crabs. Creatures must be at least favored by crabs for chute crabs to be passive by default.
Chute crabs attack in melee with their \crab claws, natural cudgel weapons that each deal 1d21-2 (Avg: 1.5) damage.[4] To supplement their claws, chute crabs possess the Cudgel Proficiency, Offhand Strikes, and Flurry skills. Additionally, chute crabs are swarmers, meaning they gain +1 to their to-hit and penetration rolls for every other swarmer adjacent to their target. Finally, chute crabs have a Quickness score of 150, allowing them to perform nearly all actions significantly faster than normal.[5]
Chute crabs possess 2 mutations, Enhanced Skeleton and Kinetic Dampening, each at mutation level 12;[5] however, neither have any function.
If the player is killed by a chute crab, they will earn the Shoot. achievement.[6]
