Neutron flux is an extremely volatile and rare liquid that can normally only be found inside a phial for sale.
Drinking neutron flux does not return any message.
Volatility
Neutron flux is a volatile liquid that, for most actions performed to it, will explode with a force of 15,000, causing 10d10+250260-350 (Avg: 305) damage to any creatures, items, or walls caught in the explosion. Dying from a neutron flux explosion will grant an achievement.
Will not cause an explosion
- Pouring neutron flux into a powered
magnetic bottle.
- Pouring neutron flux from a powered magnetic bottle into a phial or an empty
waxflab (note:
waxflab will explode as soon as it generates a new dram of
molten wax).
- Using the collect liquid command on a container of neutron flux.
Will cause an explosion
- Drinking neutron flux.
- Pouring neutron flux onto a creature (instant death for the target).
- Pouring neutron flux into a pool of any liquid (including itself)
- Pouring neutron flux on the ground. Wishing for the liquid will also cause it to instantly explode.
- Pouring neutron flux from any container other than a powered magnetic bottle into any container other than a powered magnetic bottle.
- This includes pouring from a phial into another phial.
- Pouring neutron flux from a powered magnetic bottle into any container other than a phial or waxflab.
- A magnetic bottle running out of charge or getting hit with EMP while containing neutron flux.
- Pouring a liquid other than neutron flux into a container of neutron flux, if one somehow exists.
- Being hit by a
soupy sludge with a
neutronic pseudopod (only possible on sludges encountered in the world in places like sultan cults rather than spawned from soup). This one in particular is instant death and not a high amount of damage.
Sources of Neutron flux
- Rarely, high tier
dromad traders,
kippers,
ichor merchants, and
chefs will sell neutron flux.
- The
alchemist is guaranteed to have one dram of neutron flux for sale.
- One vial is a possible reward from the Bey Lah questline.
Uses of Neutron Flux
- Upon eating a meal which uses neutron flux as an ingredient, the player will either gain a permanent +1 to their AV, or they will instantly die. This is treated as a single cooking effect of "+1 AV Permanently. Small chance of Gravitational Collapse." (with the rate of failure being 10%), so the good and bad outcomes cannot be seperated out via making a Carbide Chef recipe.
- Neutron flux can be used in a pinch as a very damaging thrown weapon if inside a fragile container like a
phial. Other containers, like
glass bottles, cannot safely hold flux and will instantly explode. Note that a container shattering is implemented as a distant pour.
- At a commerce value of 1000 per dram, neutron flux is one the more valuable liquids by weight, and the third most valuable item by weight.
Trivia
- Highly entropic beings used to require neutron flux as a Water Ritual liquid, but now ask for
warm static instead.
