In its infancy, rock streamed through the planet in plumes of magma, spilled into hushed caverns, and quickened pools of protoplasm out of its stilled inertia. Plates slipped and matter was crushed, pressurized. Later, as entropy bore cracks into the crust, sticky lifethings fused to the rock and scuttled forth. In geological terms they are tiny things, but you insist that scale is the wrong one.

Great Magma Crabs are powerful creatures found far down in the depths of Qud. As their name indicates, they are completely immune to heat and lava, though they will still avoid moving through it due to their middling intelligence. They also possess the ability to crack armor that is not Sturdy with the player obsoleted Shattering Blows skill, and can remove all the AV from most targets due to their enormous strength bonus. Unlike cracking caused by Cleave, there is no limit on the duration of this effect.

Due to their high AV and the strength of their attacks, it is preferable to attack them with ranged weapons or explosives. Their MA is also subpar, making them vulnerable to Sunder Mind and Psionic weapons.
