anomaly fumigator is a moderate cost cybernetic implant which upon installation grants the user a togglable ability that generates normality gas while activated.
normality gas while activated.
The ability is called anomaly fumigator and each turn while activated, has an equal chance of spawning 0, 1 or 2 clouds of density 10-120 normality gas in an adjacent tile(s) that is free of any obstruction, like creatures, objects or gas. While generated gas can disperse itself to surrounding occupied tiles, at least one adjacent tile must be empty for the ability to function. If the user for whatever reason is completely surrounded, whether by creatures, objects or normality gas, no new gas will be generated until the currently present gas dissipates, or the user is able to move away to more open tiles.
The normality gas itself attempts to apply the astrally burdened or tethered effect to any nearby objects, creatures or items. If successful, affected creatures including the user are prevented from utilizing certain reality-distorting mental mutations such as Teleportation or
Teleportation or Temporal Fugue as well as reality-distorting items like

Advantages & Disadvantages
Advantages
- Can be a powerful tool against esper hunters if the user happens to be in possesion of sufficiently high glimmer, such as from exploiting brain brine or having either the Otherpearl or two leyline puppeteers equipped.
- Useful against certain creatures which make heavy use of reality-distorting effects, such as the duplication of twinning lampreys and trining lampreys or the various mental mutations that svardym elds may randomly possess.
- Can be used to disrupt the life-draining attack of Syphon Vim.
- Does not cost an action to use, unlike most other forms of normality gas generation.
- Can be installed into any open slot, reducing the overall opportunity cost of installing.
Disadvantages
- normality gas grenades can be used as mostly effective replacements.
- Moderate cost can be a bit prohibitive depending on the user's license tier and build goals.
- Various implant abilities rely on distorting reality and can consequently become more difficult to use while normality fumigator is installed, such cybernetics include:
- The teleport of high-fidelity matter recompositer
- The teleport of matter recompositer
- The obstacle-bypassing effect of phase-adaptive scope
- The recoil ability of onboard recoiler
- The entangle ability of stasis entangler
- The stasis field-generating effect of stasis projector

- Things that can be affected/disabled by normality are relatively uncommon, limiting the overall utility of being able to generate normality gas.
Tips
- Items which repel gas such as gyrocopter backpacks, wrist fans or Va'am's lens can be used to move the normality gas emitted by the implant away from the user, lowering the chance of the user becoming astrally tethered and by extension unable to use various pieces of equipment, implants and mutations.
- Due to its ability to disrupt syphon vim and other mental albitites, anomaly fumigator can be used to help make combat against certain potentiall dangerous members of the Goatfolk or Children of Mamon factions like goatfolk qlippoths, goatfolk shamans and Mamon Souldrinker less hazardous.
- The ability to destroy forcefields without taking up valuble actions or gear slots with grenades or a normality gas pump can provide strong utility when facing certain foes that utilize forcefields such as chrome pyramids, Mechanimist preachers and Mechanimist priests.
- If the user happens to be in possession of the Electrical Generation mutation, whether from a sultan relic or encounter with a gamma moth, the generated normality gas, especially when augmented with compute power, can be used as a vehicle to transmit electricity. Potentially allowing the user to affect a large number of nearby targets at once, depending on how the gas disperses.
- The gas generated by anomaly fumigator can be heated up with items such as thermal grenades, cathedras with ruby tracery or flamethrowers, potentially allowing the user to continue inflicting heat-damage and temperature increases to surrounding creatures a few turns past the initial source of the temperature increase expiring.
