anomaly fumigator is a moderate cost cybernetic implant which upon installation grants the user a togglable ability that generates normality gas while activated.

The ability is called anomaly fumigator and each turn while activated, has an equal chance of spawning 0, 1 or 2 clouds of density 10-120 normality gas in an adjacent tile(s) that is free of any obstruction, like creatures, objects or gas. While generated gas can disperse itself to surrounding occupied tiles, at least one adjacent tile must be empty for the ability to function. If the user for whatever reason is completely surrounded, whether by creatures, objects or normality gas, no new gas will be generated until the currently present gas dissipates, or the user is able to move away to more open tiles.

The normality gas itself attempts to apply the astrally burdened or tethered effect to any nearby objects, creatures or items. If successful, affected creatures including the user are prevented from utilizing certain reality-distorting mental mutations such as Teleportation or Temporal Fugue as well as realitly-distorting items like anti-gravity boots or hypertractors. Additionally, any present forcefields, force barriers, or stasis fields will generally be immediately destroyed upon contact with the gas.

Advantages & Disadvantages

This section is opinion-based. Your mileage may vary.

Advantages

  • Can be a powerful tool against esper hunters if the user happens to be in possesion of sufficiently high glimmer, such as from exploiting brain brine or having either the Otherpearl or two leyline puppeteers equipped.
  • Useful against certain creatures which make heavy use of reality-distorting effects, such as the duplication of twinning lampreys and trining lampreys or the various mental mutations that svardym elds may randomly possess.
  • Can be used to disrupt the life-draining attack of Syphon Vim.
  • Does not cost an action to use, unlike most other forms of normality gas generation.
  • Can be installed into any open slot, reducing the overall opportunity cost of installing.
