twinning lamprey
A roiling mass of psychically innervated tissue, a twinning lamprey is never for want of company.
The twinning lamprey is a creature that spawns in pairs, and has a special ability to respawn a new, fully-healed copy of itself unless both copies are killed in the same turn.
The lamprey's \psychic bite is similar to a psionic weapon - it is defended by the target's MA instead of the target's AV. This can make the lamprey's attacks more dangerous to characters with low willpower.
Weaknesses
- Normality gas and other reality-stabilization effects will prevent a twinning lamprey from respawning its clone.
- Action prevention effects, such as frozen, stunned, or asleep, will temporarily prevent a twinning lamprey from respawning its clone.
Strategies
This section is opinion-based. Your mileage may vary.
- Attacks that can hit and kill both lampreys simultaneously are preferred, such as using grenades, piercing/spraying missile weapons like the eigenrifle or flamethrower, or area damage effects like Freezing Ray/Flaming Ray.
- If you're having trouble killing both at once, try weakening each of the lampreys before attempting to kill them both in the same turn.
- To improve the chances of killing both, you might consider leading the lampreys down a narrow hallway or confining them in a smaller space before attacking.
- If you have very high quickness you may be able to attack each twinning lamprey separately and still destroy them before their end-of-turn respawn.
