You replenish yourself by absorbing sunlight through your hearty green skin.
You can bask in the sunlight instead of eating a meal to gain a special metabolizing effect for (level based) days: +(level based)% to natural healing rate and +(level based) Quickness
While in the sunlight, you accrue starch and lignin that you can use as ingredients in meals you cook (max (level based) serving(s) each).
+200 reputation with roots, trees, vines, and the Consortium of Phyta
When low on food, rather than becoming famished, you wilt, giving -10% regeneration and -5 quickness. Additionally, mutants with Photosynthetic Skin can be harmed greatly by defoliant gas.
Every 6 hours (or 300 game ticks) under the sky and during the day, photosynthetic creatures will generate one serving of starch and lignin if they have not reached the maximum amount. Physical containers are not required to hold these ingredients and cannot be interacted with in anyway except for cooking. They are hidden from the inventory. When cooked, starch will grant the quickness bonus of basking, and lignin will grant the regeneration bonus.
