Advantages
This section is opinion-based. Your mileage may vary.
- Allows the player to dig through walls, making exploration of areas with locked doors or tight corridors much easier.
- If the player has pre-release content enabled, they can create staircases when out of combat, allowing for much easier exploration of the underground.
- Being able to dig through walls gives the player several tactical advantages, such as the ability to create bottlenecks or break line of sight with ranged enemies.
- Grants 1, 2, or 3 AV depending on the level, which is comparable to boar-skin gloves, steel gauntlets, and carbide gauntlets, respectively, though Burrowing Claws weigh nothing.
Disadvantages
This section is opinion-based. Your mileage may vary.
- Takes up a hands slot, and the AV does not scale well enough to compensate.
- Penetration bonus only applies to walls.
- Prevents the player from taking the Flaming Hands or Freezing Hands mutations.
