Double-muscled

You are possessed of hulking strength, but your size renders your gait awkward and clumsy.

+(2 + ((Level - 1) / 2)) Strength
-(level based penalty) move speed
Small chance to daze your opponent on a successful melee attack

Doubled-muscled is one of the few mutations where its downsides increase alongside its benefits at higher levels. To minimize Movement Speed loss while still gaining strength, it can be beneficial to avoid leveling it into the next penalty threshold. In practice, this means leaving the mutation at levels 4 or 8. Additionally, it can be a good decision to stop leveling at levels 3, 7, and 9, as increasing its level from there gives only a small benefit to the already very small daze chance.

Mutation Level Strength Bonus Movespeed Penalty Daze Chance
1 +2 -6 (0.03 * Strength Modifier)%
2 +2 -6 (0.04 * Strength Modifier)%
3 +3 -6 (0.05 * Strength Modifier)%
4 +3 -6 (0.06 * Strength Modifier)%
5 +4 -12 (0.07 * Strength Modifier)%
6 +4 -12 (0.08 * Strength Modifier)%
7 +5 -12 (0.09 * Strength Modifier)%
8 +5 -12 (0.10 * Strength Modifier)%
9 +6 -18 (0.11 * Strength Modifier)%
10 +6 -18 (0.12 * Strength Modifier)%

Advantages

  • Additional Strength causes the player to do more damage in melee and increases carrying capacity.
  • Gaining Strength from a mutation rather than by increasing it through the Attribute Points granted at level-ups allows those points to go to other Attributes.

Disadvantages

  • Having a lower Movement Speed than an enemy means that, unless the player has a way to slow the enemy down, they will eventually get caught.
  • The daze chance granted is incredibly low at all levels. For example, with a 10th level mutation and a strength modifier of +10, there is a whopping 1.2% chance that a given hit will daze.
