Wings

You fly.

You travel over land at (level based)x speed
(level based)% reduced chance of becoming lost
While outside, you may fly. You cannot be hit in melee by grounded creatures while flying.
(level based)% chance of falling clumsily to the ground
+(level based)% move speed while sprinting
You can jump (level based) squares farther.
You can charge (level based) squares farther.
+400 reputation with birds and winged mammals

The Wings mutation grants the ability to fly.

Creatures with the Wings mutation will have their body's "Worn on Back" slot changed to "Worn around Wings". This is a cosmetic change only and the creature can still wear back equipment in this slot. The creature also gains the "wings" natural body equipment which will be seen if nothing is equipped in the "Worn around Wings" slot (similar to how an empty hand has a "fist"). These "wings" are weightless and provide no ♦AV, ○DV, or attack bonus.

wings

A pair of massive, feathered wings.

Advantages & Disadvantages

This section is opinion-based. Your mileage may vary.

Advantages

  • Can be very helpful when traversing the overworld at a quick speed without the player knowing Wayfaring
  • If flying from the surface above Golgotha, a player character can slowly float down the deep shaft, skipping directly to the bottom floor.
  • Flight allows you to immediately ascend to the world map even when surrounded by hostile creatures.
  • Provides extremely broad and diverse mobility options when considering the sprint speed boost, jump bonus, charge bonus, and flight ability.

Disadvantages

  • The flight ability cannot be used underground.
  • You must remember to activate flying each time you enter the world map to gain flight-related benefits.
