Whenever you use an activated ability, there's a small chance your focus slips and you dent spacetime in the local region, causing 1-2 spacetime vortices to appear. This chance increases the longer you go without using an activated ability.

Advantages & Disadvantages

Advantages

  • Grants 3 extra points to spend on character creation
  • Normality fields or items affected by them, such as a player wearing an ontological anchor, will destroy vortexes, preventing them from teleporting the player and other objects
  • Can be useful to teleport dangerous enemies away from the player

Disadvantages

  • Being affected by normality will not directly prevent Quantum Jitters from triggering
  • Vortexes can potentially transport the player into an even more dangerous situation
  • Can cause the player to become lost underground if they don't have a recoiler
  • Vortexes can teleport friendly creatures away, potentially causing them to be lost forever
  • If two vortexes generate and collide by randomly occupying the same cell, they will create a fairly powerful explosion which can easily kill most early level characters—especially at the proximity that the vortexes tend to appear.
